Galway football manager Joe Kernan has included eight new faces in his Galway squad for the Connacht FBD League.
Among the newcomers are former 2007 All-Ireland minor winner Michael Martin, Cillian de Paor, who is a younger brother of former star half back Sean Og and Eoin McDonagh, who is a son of former Galway hurler and GAA president Joe McDonagh.
"We managed to see all the club semi-finals and finals in the senior, intermediate and juniors and several players impressed. But the three trial matches that we held were the big help, especially the last one when everyone gave it their all," Kernan said in the Irish Independent.
A number of established stars, including Padraic Joyce, Cormac Bane, Barry Cullinane, Damien Dunleavy and Finian Hanley, have been rested for the pre-season competition.
Weather permitting, Galway will begin their FBD League campaign against Sligo next Sunday in Tuam.
