Kilkenny chief confident Cody will continue

Kilkenny manager Brian Cody
Kilkenny chairman Paul Kinsella has no doubt in his mind that Brian Cody will be continuing as hurling manager for another season.
Cody's decision to pen his autobiography led some to believe that this would be his last year in charge of the Cats, but Kinsella is convinced he will be back to spearhead the team's bid for an unprecedented five-in-a-row of All-Ireland titles in 2010.
"If Brian wasn't staying on for another year, he would have mentioned it to us long before now," the chairman said in the Irish Daily Star.
"Each year, after the All-Ireland final, Brian makes a habit of not talking about his future intentions during the months of September and October.
"We'd do a lot of talking about hurling in general, but not about whether Brian would be with the team again next year.
"I suppose in a way, myself and the other officers of the county board wait to be told by Brian what his plans for the future are."
By coincidence, Cody recently succeeded Kinsella as principal of St. Patrick's NS in Kilkenny city. And despite the promotion, Kinsella is confident Cody will still be able to give 100 per cent commitment to the Kilkenny job.
"I don't think that the workload as principal of the school will lead to Brian having any less time to devote to managing the county team.
"As the principal, you're mainly involved in the administration end of things - there are 300 boys in the school and you'd be dealing with parents a lot of the time."
