Miskella still awaiting fate

Cork's John Miskella
Cork's John Miskella will have to wait at least another 24 hours to discover whether he faces any further disciplinary action for an incident involving Brian McGuigan's during last Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final. The Ballincollig wing back escaped with only a yellow card after TV cameras clearly captured him striking his Tyrone opponent off-the-ball in the 54th minute, and he faces the prospect of missing the All-Ireland final if the CCCC decides to issue him with a retrospective four-week ban. Referee John Bannon, who was taking charge of his last inter-county game, has been asked to view video evidence of the flashpoint. His reply is expected in the next day, which means Miskella may have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to learn his fate. The Longford official could say that he dealt with the incident adequately after booking the player on the advice of one his umpires, but if he decides that he should have taken further action, the CCCC will launch an investigation.
