Dublin-Kerry tie a sell-out

July 31, 2009
The full house signs will be erected at Croke Park for the first time this summer on Monday when Dublin and Kerry meet in the All-Ireland football quarter-final. Both counties have sold their full quotas of tickets, while the last few thousand, which were returned to GAA headquarters from other counties, were snapped up within the past 24 hours. "Dublin always bring a big crowd and this is one of the biggest fixtures in the GAA," Croke Park ticketing manager Ronan Murphy told the Evening Herald. Dublin's meeting with Kildare in the Leinster final attracted 74,572 spectators, which was nearly 8,000 shy of Croke Park's capacity and was slightly below the attendance for their first round meeting with Meath. Combined with the rental of Croke Park for the three U2 concerts last weekend and the double header involving Kildare v Tyrone and Cork v Donegal on Sunday, the Dublin-Kerry clash will see the GAA rake in EUR7 million in the past week.
