Kennelly reflects on 'emotional' debut

Kerry's Tadhg Kennelly
Tadhg Kennelly admitted to feeling emotional after making his senior debut for Kerry in their NFL victory over Derry at Bellaghy.
The former AFL star finally followed in the footsteps of his late father Tim and brother Noel by pulling on the green and gold jersey for the first time at senior level, entering the fray after 56 minutes in the Kingdom's 0-12 to 0-10 win.
"I was a bit emotional before the game. When Jack (O'Connor) called me to come on, I kind of welled up a bit," he said.
"It wouldn't bother me if there was no-one there when I was playing my first game for Kerry.
"It's something I thought that I would have done 10 years ago, but obviously I made my decision to go to the other side of the world. It was great to get the win and it was great to make my debut."
Despite producing a promising display, many will remember Kennelly's debut for a wayward shot that was well off target.
He joked: "All I heard from the sideline was 'kill it'. The round ball is a lot easier than the oval things bouncing around, but I obviously need more practice. The more games I get under my belt, the better."
