Simon Behan remembered

February 12, 2009
Dublin football fans recently mourned the passing of Simon Behan, who played corner forward on the team that defeated Galway in the 1963 All-Ireland final. Simon was an equally distinguished player with his club St. Vincent's, while his brothers Paddy and Mick also played for Dublin. His father, also Simon, hailed from Ballybrittas, Co. Laois and Simon regularly took training sessions with the local Courtwood club during the 1960s. His brother Mick also trained the club in the 1980s. A true legend of Dublin football, Simon was laid to rest in Balgriffin on Thursday, January 28. A minute's silence was observed in his memory before Dublin's NFL opener against Tyrone at Croke Park on January 31. The following is an interview with Simon which appeared in Hogan Stand magazine in 1992. CLICK HERE TO READ FULL INTERVIEW
