Leinster SFC: Two-of-a-kind make it three for Ógs
November 03, 2008
Éire Óg 3-10
Kiltegan 1-12
Éire Óg's full-forward line combined for 3-5 to sink the challenge of Wicklow side Kiltegan yesterday at Dr Cullen Park to take their place in the last eight of the Leinster Senior Football Club Championship.
Two first-half goals from Mark Kelly and their third major from Eric McCormack eight minutes from time assured the Carlow champions that they would be meeting Longford outfit Colmcille in the quarter-finals of the province.
Kelly's brace gave Éire Óg a 2-4 to 0-5 lead at the break, with Kiltegan's points coming from Adrian Foley and Seán Furlong, which still had them in contention.
The men from the Garden County gathered momentum right up until the 52nd minute when McCormack rattled the net for an unassailable 3-8 to 0-8 lead.
Rory Finn provided a late consolation goal thereafter for Kiltegan, but Simon Rea pointed his side to a four-point victory in the finish.
