Antrim got their first win of the Allianz Football League Division 4 campaign by handing Leitrim a 2-20 to 1-15 defeat in Carrick-on-Shannon this afternoon.

Conor Hand and Paul Honeyman traded first-half goals as the Saffrons went in up by 1-11 to 1-1 at the break and Patrick McAleer’s goal midway through the second period would all but secure the visitors first points in the league.

In Aughrim, Wicklow kept up their promotion push with an emphatic 2-26 to 0-16 win over London.

Oisin McConville’s men never looked back from the moment Kevin Quinn grabbed their first goal six minutes in, as they went on to lead by 1-15 to 0-7 with ‘keeper Mark Jackson raising four orange flags from long range frees.

Sean Murphy’s goal late in the second-half would be the icing on the cake for the Garden men as they remain within two points of top placed Carlow who cruised past Waterford yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, the clash of Longford and Tipperary at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park ended in stalemate (1-15 to 0-18) thanks to a couple of late two-pointers from the visitors.

Dylan Farrell’s brilliant goal in the 50th minute looked like having Longford on their way to both points as they went on to hold a four-point leading heading towards injury-time, but long distance frees from Cian Smith and Sean O’Connor rescued a share of the points for the Premier men.
