As part of their Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023 celebrations, Wicklow GAA will host their second Pop Up Gaelteacht before and during this Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 4 game against Leitrim in Aughrim.

Similar to last year, there will be a tent (apuball) serving tea (tae), coffee (caifé) and biscuits (brioscaí). Patrons can then return to the stand where there will be a section specifically designated as ‘An Ghaeltacht’ for the afternoon. Entertainment will be provided by some of our most talented Scór musicians and singers.

The winners of this year’s Wicklow GAA Gaeltacht scholarships will be announced at half-time.

The Pop-Up Gaeltacht is a simple idea – a venue is designated as a Gaeltacht for a specific time and date. Then, those who wish to converse in Irish go to that designated place, effectively turning it into a Gaeltacht for the duration of the Pop-Up. Whether you want to practise your cúpla focal or have a full blown comhrá, all levels of Irish speakers are welcome.
