Wexford manager Darragh Egan has allayed concerns about the fitness of Lee Chin.

The Wexford captain was withdrawn at half-time in yesterday's Allianz Hurling League win over Westmeath at TEG Cusack Park, but Egan confirmed to RTÉ that it was a precautionary measure.

"He's good. The hamstring is just a bit tight on him and we're just monitoring him now over the next few weeks and making sure he's fresh and ready for the championship. That's what we're aiming for," he said.

After seeing his side lose at home to Galway in the opening round, Egan was pleased to take two points from the trip to Mullingar.

"It took us a long time to get an upper hand in the game, but I felt our lads stuck with it very well and it's just not an easy place to come," the Tipperary man added.

"We were here last year [in the Leinster SHC] and we were lucky to get away with a draw, but today we knew exactly what was facing us.

"It took us a while to break them down. It's hard to break their spirit up here, they're really good playing at home."
