Ladies win again
Our reformed adult ladies football team made it two wins from two in the Wright Windows Junior Championship at a sun-soaked Páirc Chiaráin, Athlone last Friday evening.
Goals from Carol McCabe, Aideen Pettit and Aíne Pettit eased us to a 3-13 to 0-9 victory over the Athlone second string. The victory was all the more noteworthy as it was achieved without three regular starters in county star Ayesha Roche, captain Jill Draper and Becky Scally, while we also had a handful of players making their championship debuts.
The Championship continues this coming Friday evening, August 22 when we host Clann Gaels in MJS Builds St James’ Park at 7pm.
Team: Morna Brady; Bláithin Kelly, Jennifer Barrett, Ellie Fitzpatrick; Aislinn Carey, Chloe Ruane, Abbie Coffey; Carol McCabe, Anna Wrafter; Aíne Pettit, Aoibhinn Jackson, Aideen Pettit; Grace Maloney, Aleisha Fitzgerald, Ava Rochford. Subs: Holly Doyle, Chloe Gannon, Jill Draper, Sharon Doonan, Becky Scally, Louise Whelan, Sarah Kiernan, Orla Brennan, Gillian Heeney, Narelle Saward.
IFC v Milltownpass
After a fantastic win over Castledaly last time out, our men make the short trip to Castletown-Geoghegan this Saturday, August 23 at 5.30pm to face Milltownpass in Round 3 of the Shay Murtagh Precast Intermediate Football Championship.
Section B is shaping up to be a very close affair with perennial Peter Geraghty Cup contenders Milltownpass leading the way on four points, followed by ourselves, Castledaly, Maryland and Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall on two points and Ballymore on none. At this stage, it is difficult to predict who will fill the two quarter-final spots and who will end up in the relegation playoff.
Lotto
Last week’s lucky numbers were 1, 2, 6 and 28. There was no jackpot winner. The Match 3 winner was Orla Daly.
The jackpot has been capped at €15,000 until it is won again. Make sure to buy your tickets online or at Centra, Mace and Whelan’s. Thank you for your continued support.
