Debbie the new Vice-Chairperson
After a short sabbatical, Debbie Newman is returning to the Club Executive Committee as Vice-Chairperson, replacing Adrian Keaveney, who is stepping down after serving for several years on the Committee.
This is the first time in the club's history that this role has been held by a female, and Debbie's professionalism and enthusiasm will no doubt enable her to be very successful in this important role. Best of luck to Debbie and thanks to Adrian for his past contributions
Good News on Membership Fees for 2022
Ahead of the opening of our membership renewal for the 2022 season, we would like to inform all our members that there will be no change to fees this year. Last year was a significant change for us all as we moved our membership and registration totally online for the first time, a process that led to a number of queries relating to our family membership. Family membership will remain at 2021 rates for the 2022 season.
Club membership represents amazing value. The Football Committee have developed an amazing 40+ week training plan including street leagues, S&C and lots of fun sessions. Our current membership rates represent a payment of roughly €1 a week for our underage members. Many groups will have 2 sessions per week meaning less than 50 cent per training session. We would also like to remind parents and guardians that it is not a mandatory requirement for an adult to pay membership when registering a young person. However, it is mandatory for us to capture a parent or guardian’s details.
We are and will continue to be a fully inclusive club. It is important to say that no child has ever been turned away from Mullingar Shamrocks for not paying membership and the committee and coaches will continue to work with sensitivity and respect for all in our club. The Executive would like to thank all our members for their continued support. Without you, there is no Mullingar Shamrocks.
We are really excited about the season ahead and our coaching teams are looking forward to seeing you all in Springfield throughout 2022
Well done Sophie …
Thursday last was a very special day for the third class boys and girls of Sophie Hegarty’s class in the Mullingar Educate Together National School. At 11.00 am, the students took part in a live webinar with Bubba Newby and Seamus O’Connor, two members of #Team Ireland at the Winter Olympics. Even better because of ‘all the hard work and engagement’ with the Olympic Federation of Ireland’s #DaretoBelieve Olympic Schools Programme the class was one of only five in Ireland selected as a panellist with the opportunity to ask questions directly to Bubba and Seamus in Peking.
The METNS students were the only ones kitted out in green with flags and posters prepared for the virtual meeting. The boys and girls performed a special dance and chant which was sent out on Twitter this (Friday) morning by Team Ireland officials. Check out @mullingarshams twitter feed to see the great work of the students and Sophie’s choreography.
The athletes were suitably impressed with what will surely be a never-to-be-forgotten experience for those involved with the organisers praising the ‘incredible class’ commenting that ‘the energy and enthusiasm on the call was just fantastic.’
We in Mullingar Shamrocks are very familiar with the dedication, enthusiasm and organisational ability that Sophie regularly brings to the many roles she performs for the club and we congratulate her on helping to secure this special occasion for the boys and girls benefitting from Sophie’s teaching skills.
