MATCH EVENTS

In excellent playing conditions in Mount Temple last Sunday evening we were entertained by an exciting energetic performance from Castledaly that reflected the hard work the squad have been putting in on the training field.

Castledaly started strongest against Maryland as Alan Stone Paddy Holloway Fergal Hynes battled for possession and created opportunities that Lorcan Dolan capitalised to run up a two point lead in the first quarter. (03 – 01)

After the water break Castledaly continued to push on and tagged on points from the excellent play from Kevin Stone, Justin Coughlan, Adam Turley in particular, to reach half time with slender lead 06 to 04 points.

In the second half Castledaly increased efforts built on their earlier good work with Kevin Stone raising the green flag after good team play from the forward line, Dan Heavin, Justin Coughlan, Lorcan Dolan, Adam Turley, all putting in notable performances.  From defence

Castledaly were unlucky to lose Shane Fitzpatrick to early injury but his colleagues railed in reply to keep the opposition limited to scoring opportunities.

Cathal Dolan and sub Olsen North also cemented their defensive duties by adding points from play as Castledaly   2nd half  team performance resulted in full time score: Castledaly 1-15(18)  Maryland 0-7(7)

We wish Shane Fitzpatrick a speedy recovery from his shoulder injury.

GO GAMES update

Castledaly u7, u9 and u11 teams were in action in the latest round of GO GAMES on Saturday 21st August.

Our u7 and u9 players made the long journey to Milltown for their matches against Millmore Gaels and Rosemount. The wet conditions didn't stop our young boys and girls from producing a wonderful skillful display of football with their customary dedication and commitment. Thanks to Millmore Gaels for hosting.

Our u11 team hosted Rosemount, St. Joseph's and Lilliput Gaels for their fixture. We fielded two teams on the day and as usual our players produced some excellent team moves and scored some wonderful points in the matches they played. Thanks to our visitors for making it such an enjoyable morning's football.

Congrats and best wishes to Westmeath Ladies Intermediate team who face Wexford in the 2021 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Football Championship Final at Croke Park on Sunday September 5.

Our sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of everyone who lost a loved one in recent weeks.
