Ballycomoyle GAA Notes

May 12, 2025

We have to start this week with our huge fundraising event Boots 'N' Bling held in the Headfort Arms Kells, Co Meath. Please read full report below:

Boots n Bling

What a weekend

On Saturday 3rd May we saw 44 people take to the stage at Headfort Arms in Kells to perform in our Boots n’ Bling event which was the biggest ever fundraising event for our club. Preparation started eight weeks ago when Kevin Rowe Productions gave us a taste of what the event was all about. A huge thanks to all our fabulous dancers who took part, they all worked so hard organising fundraisers and gave up their precious time every Monday night for rehearsal. Thanks to the Castle Varagh hotel for providing the rooms to us for practice it was greatly appreciated. Plenty of craic was had, memories made, and friendships formed thanks to our fantastic club. A huge word of thanks to our main sponsor JMC Car sales and all our other sponsors, without your generous donations this would not have been possible. Also, thanks to our three judges on the night John Mc Cabe, Ursula Cahill and Jimmy Jests, to Davy & Sarita Nolan at Nolan Engineering for making the fabulous awards for the night. To the Headfort Arms hotel for looking after us all so well and hosting the event. Thanks to all the business and people that donated raffle prizes. Thanks to Salmon Bus hire for getting all participants and supporters to and from the event safely. Thanks to Kevin Rowe productions for their professionalism on running this event, to Dave Harrington our MC on the night and especially to Laura & Natasha our two choreographers. Thanks to David & Louise for hosting our after party at the Lough Lene Inn.

Our last word of thanks goes to all of our club members and wider community for the huge support that was shown to us over the last eight weeks thanks to everyone’s generosity we have raised a massive €93,250 and counting. These funds will help start the development of our second pitch, new facilities and much more. It has been a weekend that won’t be forgotten so thanking you all once again

Under 10 Go Games

Well done to the Ballycomoyle girls on Saturday last 10/5/25

on a super performance in The Downs. This was our first outing this year and the way the girls played was brilliant. We saw team work, great passing and played the game with confidence. Grace and Jessie were so proud to see the improvements that these girls are making. Thanks to Davey and Sarita Nolan for sponsoring our gorgeous new set of jerseys. Thanks to you, the parents for bringing your children and getting them to training on Friday evening's. It is much appreciated! The future is bright .

Well done Girls.

Our U16 girls

welcomed our Div 1 opponents St Lomans to Ballycomoyle on Thursday evening last 8/5/25 in glorious conditions for a game.

As both teams were identical in colour, Ballycomoyle reverted to traditional hoops for the fixture. Lomans started the game stronger scoring a few unanswered points, but once Ballycomoyle adjusted, the fixture became a real battle. The bal girls got into their strides with some lovely scores. As the game ebbed and flowed, there was very little to separate them. Ballycomoyle 4 points up at HT. Into the 2nd half and again both teams traded scores, the difference being Ballycomoyle found the net on 7 occasions, Towards the end Lomans chipped away pointing from free kicks. But at the final whistle, it was Ballycomoyle come out the Victor's by 6 points.

But what a game between 2 very talented teams.

Thanks to everyone for your support. And to Ref James Allard.

Nxt up a trip to div 1 league leaders Garrycastle.

St Michael's underage

League div 2 round 4.

St Michaels Blue v Garrycastle

Garrycastle made the long journey to Ballycomoyle in glorious sunshine to contest the 4th round of the league.

St Michaels were slow of the mark for the 1st half and allowed the visitors to play through them without much in the way of resistance.

The second half proved a different story altogether.

Fierce play from St Michaels showed a competitive edge and hunger for scores. Strong tackling a support play resulted in some super scores.

Unfortunately the damage was done in the 1st half and the visitors came away with the points.

Well done to all. A trip to Rochfortbridge in 2 weeks will complete our league

campaign.

ACFL Division 7

Result.

The Ballycomoyle lads travel away to Bunbronsa on Monday evening last 5/5/25 to take on the home side in division 7.

This was a very entertaining match with our lads disappointed to be down by 3 pts at halftime.

Half time score.

Bunbronsa 0-06.

Ballycomoyle 0-03.

In the second half it was the Ballycomoyle lads that were on top all over the field playing very good football with 10 minutes remaining in the match our lads were level at 0-06 each but it was the Bun lads that kick over the final 2 pts of the match to win out this match but Bunbronsa have to thank their goal keeper who had a fantastic match to keep out our forwards.

Final Score.

Ballycomoyle 0-06.

Bunbronsa 0-08.

Many thanks to the Bunbronsa lads for a very sporting match.
