Division 3 v Castledaly

Our hopes of securing promotion from Division 3 of the All-County League were ended with a last-gasp defeat to Castledaly at MJS Builds St James’ Park last Tuesday, April 29.

Trailing by five points coming down to the home stretch, we rallied brilliantly with unanswered scores from Micheál Coffey, Darragh Coffey, Nigel Scally (two) and Cillian Rochford to level, only for the visitors to reply with the winning point in the third minute of stoppage-time.

Darragh Coffey got us off to the perfect start with an early goal, while Scally grabbed two more either side of half-time, but Castledaly – who have a wealth of senior experience - still prevailed on a 1-19 to 3-12 scoreline.

Team: Niall Rabbitte; Martin Ward, James Fox, Mark Wrafter; James Hanlon, Colin Draper, Joey O’Neill; Ray Kennedy, Niall Carey; Danny Scully, Micheál Coffey, Cillian Rochford; James Finnegan, Nigel Scally, Darragh Coffey. Subs: Dean Fitzgerald, Diarmuid Egan, Conor Mullins, Arthur O’Rourke, Michael Joyce, Michael Carton, Mel Kiernan and Keith Corcoran.
