Wins in Division 3 and 6

It was a good week results-wise for our men’s first and second teams.

On Thursday evening, our seconds opened their All-County Football League Division 6 campaign with an 8-14 to 0-13 win at home to Tyrrellspass.

Then, on Sunday morning, our intermediates made it three wins from five in Division 3 when they survived a late scare to overcome Maryland by 2-18 to 2-15 at a sun-splashed MJS Builds St James’s Park.

A brace of Darragh Coffey goals, including one on the stroke of half-time, helped us to a 2-9 to 0-9 interval lead. We dominated the third quarter to extend our advantage to 2-17 to 0-11 thanks to a flurry of scores from Padraig Carton, Niall Carey, Ray Kennedy, Mark Wrafter, Conor Delaney and Darragh Coffey.

But two quickfire Maryland goals - the first coming from a 20-metre free - after we were reduced to 14 players for the last 10 minutes made for a nervy finish. Our next outing is away to Bunbrosna on the weekend after next.

Day at the Races

We are holding a big fundraising event at Kilbeggan Races on Friday, May 16. Keep an eye on our socials for more details over the coming days and weeks.

Distillery pitch

A small piece of history was made last week when the Locke’s Distillery pitch hosted an underage training session for the first time. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.

Our nursery also returned last week with a whopping 54 kids attending.

Lotto

Last week’s lucky numbers were 5, 9, 11 and 22. The jackpot wasn’t won. The Match 3 winners were Paula Guilfoyle, David Mulpeter, Iris Kelly and Jill Brabazon.

This week’s jackpot is €14,650. Make sure to buy your tickets online or at Centra, Mace and Whelan’s. Thank you for your continued support.
