Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club was represented on the Westmeath team that played Dublin in a Round 3 fixture of Division 1B of the Allianz National Hurling League at Mullingar's TEG Cusack Park on Sunday February 9th. Match result, Westmeath 0.18 Dublin 1.22. Next weekend Westmeath will play Laois in a rescheduled Round 1 fixture of Division 1B of the Allianz National Hurling League.

Stephen's sons, Richard and Adrian, who predeceased him in 1995 and 2024 respectively, were notable players of Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club.
