Ladies football.

Our minor girls came up against Caulry on Sunday last 3/11/24 in the Division 1 quarter final. From the first whistle it was clear that this team had only one intention and that was a win. Some very quick goals in first 10 mins settled the girls nerves, Some superb football and more scoring meant a comfortable half time lead.

Ballycomoyle. 7-03

Caulry.             3-02

Into the 2nd half and it was more of the same from the Ballycomoyle girls, a very well worked move ended with a quick fire goal, More goals quickly followed, Ballycomoyle were able to empty the bench to bring even more misery on Caulry. The girls never tired and kept wanting more right to the final whistle.

Ballycomoyle: 12-08

Caulry:                3-05

We now head to even tougher opposition next Sunday 10/11/24  in Division 1 semi final against St Lomans. But that's where these girls thrive, being the underdogs.

Thanks to all supporters for coming to the match on Sunday last. The girls very much appreciated your support.

Scór na nÓg Semi-Final

Ballycomoyle was very well represented at the Westmeath Scór na nÓg semi-final, which was held on Friday night in Coole. In total 8 clubs competed, including Ballycomoyle GAA and Ballycomoyle Ladies.

In the Recitation competition the Ballycomoyle Ladies representative was Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, who recited ‘The Guilty Child’ and Ballycomoyle GAA were represented by Holly McCormack, whose recitation was ‘My Baby Sister’. Both girls performed really well and congratulations to Cliodhna, who has qualified for the county final next weekend.

We had two groups in the Ballad Group competition – Ballycomoyle GAA were ably represented by Holly McCormack, Kate Tyrell, Alannah Styles, Muirne and Beibhínn Fagan. This young group performed beautifully and were unlucky not to qualify for the final. The Ballycomoyle Ladies group of Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Skye McCormack, Arwen Briody, Ava Williams and Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne qualified for the final after giving a lovely performance of their two songs.

Both groups in the Novelty Act competition have qualified for the final after giving great performances of their acts. The Ballycomoyle GAA representatives were Tom Keogh, Jack and Kate Tyrell, Holly McCormack, Beibhínn Fagan, Annie Farrelly, Angie Murtagh and Callie Cheevers. Ballycomoyle Ladies were represented by Clodagh Gallagher, Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caragh Masterson, Skye McCormack, Arwen Briody, Ava Williams and Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne.

The final competition of the evening was the Set Dancing and, again, we had two teams entered in this discipline. Our Ballycomoyle team members were Christina Corrigan, Aoife McKinney, Kym Reilly, Teegan Brady, Fiadh Murphy, Mia Murray, Muirne and Beibhínn Fagan. Ballycomoyle Ladies were represented on the night by Clodagh Gallagher, Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caragh Masterson, Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne, Caitlin Masterson, Ellie Murtagh, Mikaela Morgan and Teegan Rooney. Both teams danced exceptionally well and when the results were announced it was the Ballycomoyle Ladies team who got the nod from the adjudicators and progress to the County Final.

Congratulations to the five acts that have qualified for the final, which will be held in The Downs GAA Centre on Sunday next, November 10th, at 2pm. The final will be preceded, at 12 noon, by the Question Time competition. Both Ballycomoyle GAA and Ballycomoyle Ladies will be represented in the quiz. We wish all our competitors the very best of luck on Sunday.
