Junior men.

Junior 1 football championship Section Round 1

Result and Report.

Our junior men travelled to Shandonagh on Friday evening last 19/7/24 to take on St Josephs in round 1 of the junior 1 football championship. This game started in a scoring blitz with St Joseph's scoring the first score a point after 30 seconds. The Ballycomoyle lads were soon back on level term's and now were playing some good football kicking good scores but St Joseph's were getting good scores of their own and staying within striking distance of our lads and with 15 minutes gone in the first half it was our lads up by 2 pts Ballycomoyle 1-05 Josephs 1-03. There was very little between the two teams in the following 15 minutes and as the half time whistle sounded it was St Josephs just ahead on score line of Ballycomoyle 1-07 St Josephs 1-09. As the second half started it was St Joseph's who just started the better team and just got the vital score's at the right time of the match to push ahead. We can say our lads never gave up against a strong St Joseph's team who is one of the favourites to win the junior football championship. Well done lads ye put in a huge effort. We wish St Joseph's the very best of luck in the rest this year's championship. Well done to Referee Ken Daly on a job well done.

Final score

St Joseph's 4-14

Ballycomoyle 1-13.

Our lads move on to their next championship match on Sunday next 28/7/24 against Bunbrosna in Springfield.

Our ladies minor football championship team played a very strong Caulry side in Division 1 of the championship on Monday evening last 15/7/24

The girls took control of the game from throw-in, playing some great football, and kicking some great scores. HT Score Ballycomoyle 6-01. Caulry 1-07.

Into the 2nd half and it was the visitors who came out stronger, Again pegging Ballycomoyle back and at one point we had a draw game, but it was the Ballycomoyle ladies who took full control of the final 12 minutes of this championship match to run out deserving winnings on a final score line .

Ballycomoyle 11-03
