ACHL Division 1 - Round 6

Lough Lene Gaels............3.14

Castletown Geoghegan...1.16

Lough Lene Gaels, on Sunday evening May 26th, at Castletown Geoghegan, played Castletown Geoghegan in a Round 6 fixture of Division 1 of the ACHL.

The first half is best forgotten from a Lough Lene Gaels perspective, a underwhelming team performance very much the scenario. However it also must be put on the record that Castletown Geoghegan were utterly magnificent in the first half.

The match scoreline at half time was:

Castletown Geoghegan....1.11

Lough Lene Gaels.............0.03

Lough Lene Gaels did not score from open play in the first half.

At half time, it seemed that all Lough Lene Gaels had to play for in the second half, was the saving of their dignity and honour.

Therefore, the team performance of Lough Lene Gaels in the second half of this fixture, and the actual match result of this fixture,  confounded any aspect of sporting logic and rationality that could be actually applied to this Round 6 fixture of ACHL Division 1.

Lough Lene Gaels, astonishingly, with the half time match scoreline as part of the match equation, won this Hurling match by a margin of four points.

While from a Lough Lene Gaels perspective, many positives can be learned, it is equally of importance not to overlook the first half pattern of play.
