Mullingar Shamrocks GAA Notes

Festival of Football

An incredible finale to our Underage coaching for the season took place on Saturday with the Festival of Football organised by Liam O'Reilly and the extraordinary band of volunteer coaches.

The day began with the wonderful parade from the Delvin Road to Springfield. Thanks very much to Kim and the Mullingar Town Band for their contribution to the day's success. After the young players enjoyed the big match experience marching behind the Mullingar Town Band several mini-games organised on the Go-Games principles were played in Springfield with the coaches taking care of business. After the football finished there were goodies for all and more photo opportunities with the Tailteann Cup.

Volunteer Appreciation Night

The day concluded in The Clubhouse with a volunteer appreciation night where the club showed its appreciation of the dedicated work of our large team of coaches which began last February.

Shamrocks Presentation Night

The clubhouse in Springfield was a busy venue on Friday night with a huge gathering of Shamrocks’ under 15s and 13s in attendance along with many parents for medal presentations for various Shamrocks’ teams. Club captain Denis Corroon and Tailteann Cup winner Killian Daly presented the various medals with the 2021 Feile under 15 champions first to receive their medals. The current crop of under 15s then received their medals as division 1 league title winners and finally the 2022 under 13 squad received the division 4 shield medals. Mick Rouse was there to collect a medal for his grandson Killian who spent most of the summer holidays in Mullingar on vacation from Dubai. Killian’s dad Pat is a former Mullingar Shamrocks and Westmeath great.

There were over sixty players in attendance accompanied by their parents and a great evening’s gathering ran like clockwork, no surprise given the organisational skills of underage Secretary Pat Collins.

Photo opportunities with both the Tailteann Cup and the guests of the night were availed of.
