JFC ‘B’ v Mullingar Shamrocks

A second defeat to Mullingar opposition in Kilbeggan last Tuesday evening ended our second team’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of the JFC ‘B’.

In contrast to our heavy first round loss to St Loman’s, though, this was a much-improved performance against Mullingar Shamrocks. Niall Carey scored a goal straight from the throw-in and Darragh Coffey kicked some great points. We almost scored a late goal to snatch a draw, but the visitors held on for a 2-16 to 1-16 victory.

While we still have another game to play against Tubberclair in this competition, all the focus is on the ACFL Division 6 final against Milltown which is due to be played in TEG Cusack Park later this week.

Team: Adrian Carroll; Martin Ward, Mel Kiernan, Mark Wrafter; Keith Corcoran, Conor Delaney, Ciaran Egan; Brendan McMahon, Niall Carey; Mark Sonner, Joey O’Neill, Danny Scully; Cathal Finn, Darragh Coffey, Michael Joyce. Subs: Conor Monaghan, Finbar Coffey, Eoin Dixon, Aaron Nannery and Padraig Carton.

Tailteann Cup

Some great memories were made last Sunday when about 70 of our juvenile players and their mentors / parents travelled to Croke Park to see Westmeath defeat neighbours Offaly in the Tailteann Cup semi-final.

It was a wonderful day out for the children, in particular, and will hopefully inspire some of them to play for their county in the future. Westmeath will be back in Croke Park on July 9 for the final against Cavan. Thanks to Buggy Coaches for providing the transport.

Lotto

Last week’s lucky numbers were 8, 17, 26 and 28. Richie McMahon and John Whelan were the draw winners.

Thanks to everyone for their support. This week’s jackpot is €10,900. You can purchase your tickets in local shops or online https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Kilbeggan_Shamrocks
