Under 16 Division 2: Garrycastle 8-7 Milltown 3-17 - The under 16s won an entertaining encounter with Milltown on Thursday evening in a game that saw 35 scores shared between the two sides.  The teams were level at 1-2 apiece at the end of the first quarter, the Garrycastle goal coming from Mandisa Ni Chluaid, but Milltown took over as the half wore on and they led at the break 2-9 to 1-4.  The introduction of Hazel Donegan at half time breathed new life into the home team and she immediately fed Jessica Frawley for two quick goals.  A second goal for Mandisa Ni Chluaid was followed by a great finish from Ella Rose McAuley and a fine long range point from Aislinn Kelly, and Garrycastle now led by a point entering the final quarter.  However, the Milltown number 12, Kate Whyte, was causing huge problems for the Garrycastle rearguard at the other end and she knocked over a string of excellent points to put her team into a five point lead with just seven minutes left.  A brilliant diving save from Siobhan Ni Chluaid kept her side in the game and it was Garrycastle though who now finished the stronger with the switch of Hazel Donegan to full forward paying dividends as she scored three unanswered goals to seal the victory.   An excellent win for a young Garrycastle side who were missing several regulars and started the game with 11 under 14s on the pitch.  Squad:  Siobhan Ni Chluaid, Roberta Narmantaite, Cadhla Kelly, Lily Mulvihill, Kaleigh Clyne (0-1), Jessica Frawley (2-0), Roisin Ni Chluaid, Aislinn Kelly (0-3), Lucy Kearney, Eve Murphy, Hannah Murray (0-2), Ella Rose McAuley (1-1) , Tanya Stephane, Emma Blagriff, Mandisa Ni Chluaid (2-0), Isabella Hogan, Hazel Donegan (3-0), Mairead McBride, Rebecca Sleator, Jola Kearney.
Under 15 Division 2 Féile- Garrycastle under 15s enjoyed a very good Féile tournament in Killucan on Saturday afternoon.  They topped their group thanks to wins over Milltownpass, 1-3 to 0-2, St. Josephs 2-1 to 0-4, and Shandonagh 1-2 to 0-3.  That put them into a semi final against Ballycomoyle, but unfortunately, despite giving it everything they had, the girls fell just short by one point losing 1-3 to 1-2.  Garrycastle had enough chances to win the game but in truth they looked a tired side at that stage, with most of the squad having played in a tough under 16 game less than two days earlier.  A great experience for the girls though and they represented the club with distinction on and off the field.
