Shane Curran guided Caulry to the knockout stages of the Westmeath SFC for the first time in their history yesterday, despite being shown a red card midway through the second half of their dramatic 2-10 to 1-13 draw with neighbours Moate All-Whites.

The former Roscommon goalkeeper was banished to the stand by referee Mickey Dan Murtagh at TEG Cusack Park, but this didn't stop his side from securing the draw they needed to progress on scoring difference thanks to Emmet Nally's last-gasp penalty. The other Caulry goal was scored by Senan Baker, son of Clare hurling legend Ollie.

The Mount Temple outfit will now face champions St Loman's, with Garrycastle and Mullingar Shamrocks meeting in the other quarter-final. The winners of the Caulry v St Loman's tie will take on Coralstown/Kinnegad in the semi-finals, with The Downs awaiting the winners of the Garrycastle v Mullingar Shamrocks clash in the other last-four game.
