THE DOWNS GAA NOTES

Westmeath GAA Coaching Webinars

A large group of our coaches have been busy this week attending Webinars delivered by Westmeath GAA. Thanks to all attendees and well done to Westmeath GAA on an excellent presentation. We look forward to putting these skills into use in the coming weeks.

Westmeath Movathon Lake County Challenge

Westmeath GAA, Westmeath Ladies Gaelic Football Board and the Westmeath Camogie Board are joining forces for the month of March in organising a fundraising event for the benefit of all three organisations. Beginning on March 1st to Easter Monday April 4th they are asking all 47 clubs to take part in a walk, run, cycle or swim in a distance of your choice. The target is to make the 75km virtual journey across the county without moving outside the 5km limit permitted under the Covid 19 restrictions. Monies raised will be used to support each of the Westmeath Football, Ladies football and Camogie teams and also in the essential refurbishment of TEG Cusack Park. Donations can be made to The Westmeath Movathon Lake County GoFundMe page.

Everyone here at The Downs GAA club and Downs Ladies LGFA extends huge congratulations to our very own Lucy Power who was named on the 2020 Intermediate Team of the year at full back. Lucy is a great ambassador for our club and the accolade is well deserved. We also congratulate the other three Westmeath recipients Fiona Claffey, Anna Jones and Rachel (Bird) Dillon.
