St Lomans club notes

March 01, 2021

Covid 19:

The GAA have suspended training and games nationwide until the 5th of April at least. We have taken the decision to close our club grounds for the time being. Please stay at home and do your part in stopping the spread of the virus.

Lomans Lions Live:

Attention all boys and girls from ages 4 to 7. We are taking the Loman's Lions Live and online, in your homes for Spring 2021. With Covid 19 restrictions still in place we are delighted to bring our coaching sessions online. The sessions will focus on movement, football skills and most importantly – fun. The coaching sessions will be free and open to boys and girls under 7 and delivered by primary school teachers coaching within the club.  The sessions will begin on March 6th at 11am and broadcast on Microsoft Office Teams. Sarah McManus will deliver the first one. Just click the link on the flyer, fill in your details, hit submit and we'll do the rest on our social media.

Online Fitness Classes:

With GAA pitches around the country closed at the moment the onus now falls on clubs to find alternate ways of keeping their players active and engaged during these difficult times. One such example of ingenuity is the live fitness classes we are streaming for our underage players on Facebook every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm.

Former player and fitness expert Timmy Murphy is the host and his classes have proved to be particularly popular with huge numbers tuning in to his live workouts every week. The classes themselves are an introduction to strength and conditioning for the players with specific focus on skills and ball mastery. Timmy requests each player to have a football, tennis ball and skipping rope by their side at all times. And the whole family is welcome to take part!

The best part: it’s fun. Really fun! In fact it’s the highlight of the week for lots of our players which is really encouraging to hear. The classes take place every Wednesday and new members are very welcome to join. For details on joining the group please contact your coach. For new members interested in joining, send us a DM and we’ll get you added to the appropriate group.
