Southern Gaels club notes

November 16, 2020

AGM

The club held a very successful AGM last Friday on-line through Microsoft Teams. It was organised by Secretary Frank Lee and was well attended.

All the usual business was conducted with addresses from Martin Geary (Chairman), Frank Lee (Secretary) and Pat O'Neill (Secretary). There was a report from the mentors of each underage group and the Intermediate team through Ronan Farrell. A vision for 2021 was set out by Martin Geary and it is hoped the club can progress to even greater heights.

The successes of the year were the championship wins at Under 17 (Division 2) and Under 13 (Division 3). The Intermediate side reached the semi-final and showed real progress under the management of Enda Dowd. Special mention on the night went to the number of non-hurling events organised by the club during the Covid 19 lockdowns.  There were two charity quizes, the Pass on the Sliothar and the Halloween Costume videos, the on-line Bingo and many more. These kept our members, especially the younger ones in touch with the club all year. There are more surprises planned for this Christmas.

Last years' officers were returned with Martin Geary (Chairman), Frank Lee (Secretary) and Pat O'Neill (Treasurer).

Thanks to all who attended and helped the club in any way during the year.

Condolences were passed with the O'Sullivan family Retreat Heights on the recent death of Andrew's brother in Cork.
