Shandonagh club notes

Shandonagh Fun Run
The club held it's second ever annual Fun Run on Sunday 18th May. Weather conditions took from the event somewhat in that we had a smaller turnout than last year. However those that took part enjoyed the afternoon and the social side of this significant community event as well as the competitive sporting aspect. Thank you to all who participated, took the registrations, parked the cars, stewarded, fed the troops, attended the fallen, and organised the event. We would also like to thank the generous sponsors of the prizes: Elverys at Lakepoint Park and Steve at Outdoor Escapes. The event was endorsed by the Westmeath Sports Partnership and the AAI. Congratulations to Rory Mooney of Clonard who won the men's race and local heroine Aine O'Reilly who won the Ladies Race. Hopefully this will continue to be an annual event on our sporting calender.

The winning numbers drawn in this weeks Lotto were 9, 16, 17, & 27. There was no outright winner. The winner of the €100.00 was Eve Hickey. Well done Eve, Mammy and Daddy might invest in next weeks lotto for you now.
U16 Div 4 Final Shandonagh V Kilbegan/St Joesphs
Our young Ladies team travelled to Moate to play Kilbeggan/St Joseph's in the final last Saturday and on a beautiful sun filled day with a strong breeze, Shandonagh started well getting the first score of the game, but the Kilbeggan side soon settled and showed their dominance in many areas of the field and went on to win comfortably for the second successive year.
Throughout the league these young ladies have shown great skill, determination, and sportsmanship and a huge sense of loyalty to their fellow players and club. A huge thank you also has to be given to the team mentors, coaches, parents and supporters who have supported, cheered and rallied the girls on throughout the season to date. We have no doubt that these young ladies will be back more determined than ever.
