Former Meath defender Paul Shankey is set to take charge of the Waterford senior footballers.

A member of the Royal County’s 1999 All-Ireland SFC winning panel who subsequently established as a regular under Sean Boylan, Shankey has been proposed to replace Ephie Fitzgerald on a two-year term. The Kilmainhamwood native is based in Waterford where he is heavily involved with Portlaw.

He will be assisted by Carrick Davins’ Mikey Cronin, who will also serve as Waterford U20 manager in 2024.
