Clonoe O'Rahilly club notes

April 27, 2020

It was with profound sadness that we learnt of the passing of our former player Kieran McCabe on Friday morning. The members of Clonoe O'Rahilly's offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife Bernie, his sons, former players Cathal and Damian and his daughter Edel. We also extend our condolences to his grandchildren and the extended McCabe and Hughes Family. May he rest in peace.

In these very challenging times, the club are coming up with innovative ways to reach out to our members. We have set many skills challenges for our youth players and have been encouraging our youth to show their support for all frontline staff by displaying their rainbows. Please keep these coming in so we can showcase this amazing work.

We have also set up a YouTube channel and are uploading many games from days gone by as well as the many memorable Variety Concerts that were held in the Old Hall. Please find the Clonoe O'Rahilly's YouTube page to access all of these.

One of our Members, Pete McKeever is hosting weekly quizzes for anyone who would like to participate. There is a sports quiz every Wednesday at 830pm and a General Knowledge quiz on Saturday at 830pm. These quizzes are great craic and a super way to keep the brain active. To take part, please add Pete (Peadar Macíomhair) as a friend on Facebook.

During these challenging times of Self-isolation, as a club we have developed a group of volunteers who can offer support to those most in need. If you feel you need assistance with essentials such as medication, food or toiletries or know of anyone who may benefit from this service please let us know. All requests will be treated as confidential. For assistance, please contact

Sympathy is extended to the Maye family, on the death of Bobby, formerly of Coole. May he rest in peace.
