Everything was obliterated last week as a result of the artic conditions. The ladies All-Ireland final has been postponed until the end of January 2011 and the bingo was wiped out last Thursday because of the heavy snow. Bingo will return on Thursday 30th January at 9pm in Healy Park, weather permitting of course. Well done to the U21s who defeated Derrylaughlin to qualify for their second county final in a row where they will meet Eglish. This final was meant to be played last weekend but the snow has intervened again. Weather permitting we will be hosting the annual Cormac McElroy memorial cup on St Stephen's day at Healy Park at 12.30pm. Everyone welcome of course. Best wishes to Joseph McMahon and Geraldine Shields who get married on Monday. Notes for your diary are Tuesday January 18th for the AGM and 12 February for the dinner dance. Gaeltacht scholarships were presented last Thursday evening from the club and the Gaelic League - thanks to all who came out on such a bad evening. The Fr. Liam Lawton concert was a resounding success and all in attendance had a most entertaining night enjoying a unique musical performance. Having witnessed the show all agreed that the chapel was the only venue which could have done justice to the atmospheric and spiritual qualities of this experience. Congratulation to the Carrickmore Folk, led by Rosalind, who did not look out of place alongside the full time professional musicians and vocalists of the Liam Lawton set up. Thanks to Fr O'Neill P.P. for his help and the use of the chapel, to all who sold tickets for the concert, all who braved the freezing conditions to attend and to those who helped to steward the event. Derrylaughan Kevin Barry's
The U21s played in the semi- final against Omagh on Tuesday past in Kildress and lost on a score-line of Omagh 1-09 to Derrylaughan 0-10. This was an excellent performance by all the players, particularly Fergal Mc Aliskey and Liam Gervin, to push Omagh all the way. Omagh got a penalty in second half which the Barry's found difficult to recover from although they did add drama to an already tense affair when Fergal punched the ball in injury time only to hit the St Enda's post. Well done to both Team and Management.
