Daire Cregg is set to miss Roscommon’s Connacht SFC semi-final against Mayo on Sunday after his straight red card against New York was upheld.
Cregg was dismissed in the first half of the Rossies’ facile 5-22 to 1-10 opening round win in Gaelic Park by referee Brendan Cawley following an incident involving Eoghan McElligot, and was duly handed a one-match ban.
The Boyle attacker appealed his sending off to the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee (CHC) on Monday night, but was unsuccessful. It remains to be seen if Cregg will take his appeal to the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) or even the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) in a bid to be free to line out in Castlebar.
