Mayo hit Tyrone for four goals in Castlebar tonight to maintain their unbeaten record in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League four rounds in.

The 4-10 to 0-12 victory at Hastings MacHale Park, where 12, 218 were in attendance, sees Kevin McHale’s men sitting top of the table ahead of tomorrow’s schedule of games.

Darren McCurry’s points had helped the visitors build up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead before Aidan O’Shea hammered home the game’s first goal on 25 minutes and Jack Carney would have the ball in the Red Hands’ net seven minutes later.

Those strikes were good enough for the Westerners to take in a 2-5 to 0-5 lead at the break and the game would be all but up for the Ulster side once Enda Hession raised another green flag for Mayo four minutes into the resumption.

In a game which saw Tommy Conroy returning off the bench to draw a mighty roar for the home fans, Tyrone did reduce the gap to give prior to ‘Man of the Match’ Diarmuid O’Connor cutting through and send Niall Morgan the wrong with his coolly stroked finish.
