Victory in Kildress
Fr Rocks travelled to a wind swept Kildress on Sunday afternoon to take on their local rivals in what proved to be a titanic battle. With a gael force win blowing across the pitch, conditions proved extremely difficult and it was the home side that settled quickly, opening the scoring with four minutes on the clock. Indeed it was Kildress who dominated the opening exchanges, but a brilliant break away move saw the ball fall to John Gilmore who cracked home an excellent goal to put the Rocks into the lead. There were no more Cookstown scores for another eighteen minutes, with the wind making life very difficult and Kildress had managed to get level, before John Gilmore again latched on to a high ball and fisted the ball to the back of the net to double the lead. An excellent score from Brian Mulligan on the stroke of half time left the Rocks in control at the break on a scoreline of 2-1 to 0-3. The second half proved similar to the first, with both sides finding it difficult to score. With the advantage of an extra man Cookstown did begin to take control of the game, and it took thirteen minutes before the first score arrived, when it did, it proved to be worth waiting for, with Owen Mulligan selling a brilliant dummy and splitting the posts with the outside of the boot from thirty yards. John Gilmore almost had a hatrick minutes later when he cracked a great effort off the posts, and the introduction of Jason Quinn added extra impetus to the attack. Indeed he stretched the Rocks lead further in the twenty fifth minute when he latched on to a brilliant Raymond Mulgrew pass and fired over the bar with the goal at his mercy. It was Mulgrew who sealed the victory deep into the second half when he fired over a superb effort from thirty yards. This was a great all round team performance, with Fr Rocks adapting well to the difficult conditions. There were excellent performances from Raymond Mulgrew, Marty Murray, John Gilmore and Shea McGarrity who was superb. The Fr Rocks team lined out as follows; D McGuckin, R Pickering, S Monaghan, P McGurk, S McGarrity, B Hughes, C O'Hare, G Fitzpatrick, C Mullan, R Mulgrew (0-1) , Barry Mulligan, Brian Mulligan (0-1), J Gilmore (2-0), O Mulligan (0-1),Martin Murray; subs Jason Quinn (0-1) for Brian Mulligan.

13 men Reserves defeat Kildress
A brilliant performance from Fr Rocks reserves saw them secure a great victory over local rivals Kildress on Sunday afternoon. The Rocks were down to thirteen men for most of the game, with the dismissals of Marty McVeigh and Niall Glackin. Despite this disadvantage, it was Cookstown who dominated the game. A Jason Quinn penalty opened the Rocks scoring and three further scores from Ryan Bloomer left the game level at halftime on a scoreline of 1-3 to 1-3. In the second half Cookstown had to dig deep and scores from the impressive Paddy Kelly, a great effort from Mark O'Connor and an excellent Donal Casey point, secured a backs to the wall victory on a final score line of 1-6 to 0-4. The Fr Rocks team lined out as follows; G Mullan, C Bell, E Cullan, Brian Kelly, M McCabe, D Hughes, M O'Connor (0-1), B O'Neill, N Glackin, R Bloomer (0-3, 2 frees), P Kelly (0-1), O'McNia, D Casey, J Quinn (1-0, penalty), M McVeigh; subs D Cummings for O McNia.

Minors defeated by Clonoe
Fr Rocks minors were defeated by Clonoe on Wednesday evening in the minor league. It was a spirited performance from the young Rocks who dominated the first half in particular. There were first half scores from Danny McElhatten (double), Danny Maguire, Matthew Carberry and Conor Hughes. Cookstown were left to rue a series of missed opportunities and were left trailing by a single point at half time. In the second period the Fr Rocks rearguard were in superb form with Ciaran Blake and Ruairi Mullan stopping countless Clonoe attacks, however a lack of scores of front was to prove costly and a brilliant solo goal from Shea McGarrity was not enough as the visitors held on for a 2-10 to 1-7 victory. The Fr Rocks lined out as follows; C Sharkey, R Mullan, J McGarrity, C Blake, M Hughes, S McGarrity (1-0), N Doyle, C Owens, M Carberry (0-1), R O'Neill, D Maguire (0-1), C Hughes (0-2), O Coyle, D McElhatten (0-3, 2 frees), A Texeria.. subs J McIvor, O Devlin.
