Galway scored their third win in this year’s Leinster senior hurling championship by inflicting Antrim with a crushing 6-27 to 1-14 defeat in the Salthill sunshine this afternoon.
Brian Concannon and Anthony Burns netted the first-half goals for the Tribesmen and things would get worse for the visitors when they had Declan McCloskey sent off just before half-time.
Galway would hold a 2-13 to 0-8 lead at the break and added more goals via Concannon, Burns, Declan McLaughlin and Kevin Cooney after the change of ends.
Niall McGarel struck a consolation goal for Antrim and this defeat marks a fourth in-a-row for the Glensmen in the Leinster SHC, meaning Davy Fitzgerald’s side will need to defeat Offaly in Tullamore next weekend to try and avoid relegation.
As for Galway, they'll be aiming for a win over Dublin the next day in a bid to return to the eastern province’s decider.
