Cosgrave fills ladies void as 2025 Offaly GAA Championship draws are made

The Offaly flag flies proudly

Offaly LGFA have moved quickly to fill their intermediate manager’s void by appointing Brian Cosgrave to the role in an interim capacity.

Cosgrave, who led Rahan-parish side Shamrocks to intermediate championship success last year, takes over from Greg Farrelly, who was ‘relieved’ of his duties on Tuesday night after a disappointing start to the Lidl National Football League Division 3 campaign.

Offaly conceded a whopping 10-37 in defeats to Wexford, Carlow and Limerick, prompting the county board to bring Farrelly’s tenure to an abrupt end. Cosgrave’s first game in charge will be a local derby against Laois in Daingean on Sunday week.

“We would like to thank Greg Farrelly and his management team for their commitment and effort over the last two years,” an Offaly LGFA statement read.

“Brian Cosgrave has been appointed as interim manager for the remainder of the Lidl Ladies National Football League.”

Meanwhile, the draws for the 2025 Offaly GAA Championships took place live on Facebook last night.

In the restructured SFC, champions Tullamore are in Group 2 along with Shamrocks, Bracknagh and Clonbullogue. Group 1 consists of last year's runners-up Ferbane, Edenderry, Durrow, Ballycommon and Durrow.

In the SHC, holders Kilcormac/Killoughey are joined in Group 2 by St Rynagh's, Shinrone, Kinnitty and Belmont. Group 1 comprises last year's finalists Ballinamere, Coolderry, Birr, Seir Kieran and Tullamore.
