Louth GAA has appealed to clubs to supply referees as a serious shortage of match officials threatens to disrupt this year’s games programme.
Currently, the Wee County has just 29 referees to cover adult and underage games, with some clubs not providing any. At this week’s county board meeting, Louth GAA PRO Bob Doheny raised the prospect of club matches having to be staggered because of the shortage.
The former secretary also warned that clubs who are already supplying referees will be prioritised when it comes to scheduling.
