St Lachtain's (Kilkenny) are All-Ireland club junior hurling champions thanks to a 1-18 to 0-16 victory over Russell Rovers (Cork) at Croke Park this afternoon.

The Leinster champions had a dozen different scorers over the hour at Croke Park, including Shane Donnelly who netted the decider's only goal on 21 minutes.

Donnelly’s strike was what separated the sides at half-time (1-7 to 0-7) and the second-half would see St Lachtain’s pushing six clear as points from Alexander Rafter, Cathal Hickey and James Maher sailed over.

A brace of Duggan Murray points brought Russell Rovers back into contention but Darragh Maher came off the bench to land a vital point for the Kilkenny men before Darren Brennan rounded off their tally for the day.

The win sees Kilkenny continue its dominance in the All-Ireland club JHC competition and also marks a first national success for the Freshford club.
