Walter Walsh fully expects his former Kilkenny attacking colleague TJ Reid to commit to another season in the black and amber.
Walsh brought the curtain down on his illustrious inter-county career last week, but doesn’t envisage Reid – who at 37 is four years his senior – following suit.
“I’d say he has more to offer. As long as Pat Horgan (veteran Cork forward) goes, TJ Reid will go anyway, that’s one thing for sure,” the dad of newborn twins told reporters at the GOAL Mile media day.
“No, I can only imagine TJ will go back. Look, he is still one of the best players in Ireland. I can’t see why he would retire.
“Now, I haven’t discussed that with TJ. I’d be chatting to TJ all the time but that’s a personal thing. I assume he will go back. He was excellent with Ballyhale even in their last match in the club (championship against Thomastown) as well. He still has it.
“Hurling is a game of skill and TJ has it in abundance, and his ability to win his own ball is second to none. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t.”
