A ’45 shootout’ was needed to separate Truagh-Clonlara and Gailltir in an epic Munster club senior camogie final replay in Littleton, Co. Tipperary on Saturday.

After three hours of nail-biting drama, which included double extra-time, Róisín Begley scored the decisive ’45 to hand Clare champions Truagh-Clonlara their first provincial senior title at the expense of their Waterford opponents. The sides were tied on 1-11 to 2-8 at the end of full-time and were still level, 4-12 to 3-15, after two periods of extra-time.

Amid unbearable tension and with spectators standing on the pitch to get a closer look at the action in the fading light, Truagh-Clonara prevailed 9-8 in the shootout thanks to Begley’s winning sudden death ’45.
