The funeral took place yesterday of Donegal club footballer Evan Craig who passed away on Sunday after a battle with cancer.

The 24-year-old's home village of Muff came to a standstill as his coffin, which was draped in his Naomh Padraig jersey and a Celtic FC flag, was carried onto the pitch of his beloved GAA club en route to the Sacred Heart Church.

The coffin was carried by Evan's heartbroken team-mates.

In a heartfelt tribute on Sunday, Naomh Padraig GAA said: “We as a club are devastated this evening to hear of the sad passing of our much loved and respected senior player, Evan Craig.

“We are heartbroken for Evan’s parents Joe & Grace, sisters Ciara and Orla, Girlfriend Cloda, brother in law Darragh, Nieces Ellie & Anna and all the family.”

As a mark of respect, all club activities were suspended until further notice.
