Kildare senior hurling manager David Herity has stepped down after five years in charge.
Herity steered the Lilywhites to two Christy Ring Cup titles, a Kehoe Cup and a Division 2B National League title as well as a Division 2A final.
Five defeats in-a-row in the Joe McDonagh Cup this season saw Kildare relegated back to the Christy Ring Cup.
The former Kilkenny goalkeeper released the following statement this afternoon (Thursday) thanking those that supported him throughout his tenure:
“Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and express my gratitude to my dedicated backroom team(s) who have worked tirelessly for the betterment of Kildare hurling over the past 5 years. Their unwavering commitment and hard work have played a crucial role in our numerous achievements,” the statement read.
“I would also like to extend my thanks to the County Board for their support throughout my time as the manager, especially Ger Donnelly, Mick Gorman, Colm Nolan, and John Burke. Their backing has been vital in enabling us to pursue our goals for Kildare hurling.
