Erone Fitzpatrick has become the first Irish player to sign a four-year contract with an AFLW club.
The former Laois ladies football star has agreed a contract extension with Carlton Blues that will keep her at IKON Park until at least the end of 2030. Fitzpatrick helped the O’Moore County to All-Ireland Intermediate glory in 2022 before becoming a cornerstone of Carlton’s midfield.
Carlton Head of AFLW Eleni Valos said the club was thrilled to have Fitzpatrick commit to them long-term.
"Erone is one of the most exciting players in the competition and her form is only getting better. Her ability to break lines, find the ball and cleanly evade her opponent sets her apart,” Valos said.
"Since arriving in Australia, she has fully embraced everything this program stands for. Erone is a fierce competitor, a wonderful teammate and a leader who makes everyone around her better.
"She is only in her third year of playing football which just shows how much growth she still has. We can’t wait to see what Erone can bring over the next four years and beyond."
