Cork football boss John Cleary is planning for 2027 without Cathail O’Mahony who is moving to Australia.
The Echo is reporting that the highly-rated Mitchelstown forward is heading Down Under in January in what is a blow to the Rebels’ hopes of building on this year’s promotion to Division 1 of the Allianz League and run to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals. An exciting underage prospect, O’Mahony starred in Cork’s 2019 All-Ireland U20FC success, but his progress to the senior team has been hampered by injury.
Cork have lost a number of players to Australia in recent times, including Sean Powter who is currently based in Perth.
