Ballina Stephenites and Westport will have to do it all again after playing out a 1-15 to 0-18 draw in today’s Mayo senior football championship final in Castlebar.
Having led by 0-9 to 0-5 at half-time, the defending champions saw their advantage wiped away with eight minutes remaining in the game and Westport rallied and then hit the front through Killian Kilkelly’s two-pointer.
The 2022 champions moved three ahead before Ben Thornton scrambled in a goal for Ballina. Westport would still hold a two-point advantage in injury-time via Kilkelly, but Frank Irwin’s free from outside the arc at the death snatched a second chance for Stephenites.
The Mayo SFC final replay is now fixed for Saturday, October 25th at Hastings MacHale Park (3pm).

A cracking Westmeath senior hurling championship final saw Castletown-Geoghegan and Lough Lene Gaels finishing all square (1-23 to 2-20) in Mullingar.
In the end, it was Niall O’Brien’s free that secured a replay for holders Castletown who had led by four at half-time before Tommy Doyle and David Williams got early second-half goals for the Gaels.
O’Brien bagged Castletown’s goal in the 40th minute and would come up trumps in injury-time to ensure another date between the sides.
Meanwhile, the Meath senior hurling championship final saw Podge O’Hanraghan’s point on the hour mark rescue a 4-16 to 3-19 draw for Ratoath against Kiltale in Navan.
