St Brigid’s booked their place into the knock-out stages of the Antrim senior football championship with a round to spare thanks to a 2-27 to 3-11 victory over Ahoghill yesterday evening.
The victors had built up a four-point lead before Patrick Finnegan struck their first goal and a couple of two-pointers from the in-form Reuben Carleton would ushered them 1-12 to 0-2 ahead.
Patrick Graham grabbed a sorely needed goal for Ahoghill three minutes into the restart, but the visitors got motoring again with scores via Carleton and Ronan Boyle to move 13 points ahead.
Conan McNicholl came off the bench to net a second St Brigid’s goal, putting the game to bed, as late goals from Donal Graham and Fionnbar O’Neill only proved consolation for the home side.
The other Antrim SFC clash on Friday saw Peter McGrath’s Aghagallon side scoring a comfortable 2-19 to 2-6 win against St Paul’s.
