Limerick moved into their first Tailteann Cup final thanks to a hard fought 2-18 to 1-17 victory over Wicklow at Croke Park this afternoon.

The Shannonsiders came from seven points down to win out by four in the end and join Kildare in the second-tier competition’s decider at headquarters on July 12th.

Wicklow had edged a 0-4 to 0-3 lead when Danny Neville fired in the game’s first goal for the Treaty men on the quarter hour mark.

Oisin McConville’s side got it level for the Garden County by the 31st minute, but a brace of points from Peter Nash would see Limerick edging a 1-7 to 0-9 lead at the interval.

With the tams all square again, Wicklow’s goal would come 11 minutes into the second-half via Malachy Stone and they’d add scores through Kevin Quinn, Dean Healy (two-pointer) and Oisin McGraynor to hold a 1-16 to 1-9 advantage with 20 minutes left to play.

Jimmy Lee’s team responded to their opponents’ purple patch with a poacher's goal from Rob Childs and added a two-pointer through 'keeper Josh Ryan along with a Neville point to trim their deficit down to one.

Wicklow would see a McGraynor penalty saved by Ryan with the help of the post in a crucial moment after that, and Barry Coleman’s point made it honours even ahead of Nash (free), Darragh Murray and Coleman shooting over scores for the Division 4 champions before Ryan’s two-pointer from a free late on sealed their final place.
