Kerry had minimal fuss as they defeated Roscommon by 3-18 to 0-17 in Killarney this afternoon to get up and running the group stages of All-Ireland senior football championship.

Having built up a 0-11 to 0-6 lead by half-time, the Munster champions fired in the game’s first goal through ace attacker David Clifford 15 minutes into the second-half to push their lead out to eight points.

A Shane Ryan ‘45’ and Sean O’Shea point from play made the margin double figures ahead of Paul Geaney hammering in another goal for the Kingdom on 50 minutes.

Roscommon got points back from Ronan Daly and Ciaráin Murtagh but we well second best throughout the 70 minutes at Fitzgerald Stadium.

With five minutes remaining, Gavin White struck a third goal for Jack O’Connor’s men and two more O’Shea points (one a free) would ensure they won out by 10 in the end.
