Limerick still hold the upper hand over Wicklow in the promotion race from Division 4 of the Allianz Football League after coming away from Aughrim this afternoon with a share of the points.
The 3-15 to 1-21 result at Echelon Park means that the Treaty men sit on eight points in the table ahead of their final round meeting at home to Waterford next weekend, with Wicklow on seven points as they visit Tipperary in Thurles in seven days’ time.
Padraig O'Toole’s goal saw Limerick trailing throughout the game’s second quarter until the Shannonsiders got a Emmet Rigter goal on the stroke of half-time to take in a 1-8 to 1-7 lead at the interval.
Oisin McConville’s side added two more goals after the change of ends via Jack Kirwan and Dean Healy to seemingly put them on the path to victory.
However, the points of James Naughton and Cillian Fahy kept the Munster side in touch before a Rigter two-pointer was backed up by two late McNaughton frees which sealed the draw for the visitors.
