SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is set to host Scottish Premiership champions Celtic this summer when they play Cork City on July 8th as part of a fundraiser event.
The Cork Super Cup is a joint initiative between Cork GAA and sports marketing agency Druid Sport which is set to see Páirc Uí Chaoimh hosting its third ever soccer match.
The trophy that will be presented to the winning team on the day has been designed by Rebels hurling legend Ger McCarthy.
Speaking after the official launch of the event, the CEO of Cork GAA, Kevin O’Donovan said: "We are fortunate that one of the world’s most successful soccer teams has agreed to return to Cork, and we have been engaging with Cork City FC to ensure that both sets of fans really enjoy the experience.
"Every event such as this generates funding streams that we can reinvest in the stadium, and in our own games, so everyone wins."
Season ticket holders with SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Celtic FC and Cork City FC will be able to purchase tickets this Wednesday and tickets will go general sale from Friday morning through www.corksupercup.com/tickets and Ticketmaster.
